Sometimes life throws us challenges we’re not ready to handle. You don’t have to go through those challenges alone. My hope is to create a place, especially designed for children, teens and their parents, to feel safe to work (or play) through tough feelings and life experiences. I strive to be an affirming therapist, that helps clients feel like they can be proud to be who they are and grow in confidence.

My approach

When I created Be Me Therapy LLC, it was with the hope that every individual that seeks therapy with me will feel safe and affirmed exactly as they are, and encouraged to grow into their life goals. I want my clients to think “this is a space that I can truly BE ME.” I strive to provide affirming care for individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community and their families.

I specialize with children and teens, ages 8 through 18, offering therapy for a variety of life challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, friendship challenges, life adjustments, school stress and more. Mental health therapy that can playfully help children understand their big feelings and assist teens as they navigate life challenges to grow toward their personal goals.

About me:

My name is Lindsey Trowbridge (she/her) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oregon. I have lived in the Pacific Northwest my whole life, and moved to the Portland area in 2021.

I completed my Bachelors in Psychology in 2005 and my Masters in Clinical Counseling in 2017 from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. I completed the certification process to become a Registered Play Therapist in 2020. I have been trained in EMDR since 2019 and am in process of becoming certified. I started my counseling career by working in a large agency and then transitioned to smaller group practices. In February of 2023, I created Be Me Therapy LLC as a solo private practice.

The primary counseling theories and techniques utilized include Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Directive Play Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Attachment- Based Therapy and Person Centered Theory.

In-person and remote options

My office is conveniently located in Beaverton, inside the LifeQual building. Telehealth sessions are also available.

1975 NW 167th Place, Suite 100

Beaverton, OR

What can I expect?

The first session is considered an intake assessment, which involves a lot of information gathering, assessing for diagnostic criteria and creating treatment goals.

For young children, therapy sessions often involve playing, either through imaginative play where the child leads the way, or more structured activities like games that have emotion rules snuck in to help the child gain more understanding about their feelings. Parents can join young children for session, especially if this helps the child feel more comfortable.

For clients who have experienced trauma or crises in their lives, EMDR techniques can be used to help heal and regain a sense of safety. These techniques can be combined with play therapy methods as well.

For teen who want to play games, I have some that are fun for teens as well. Sometimes it’s easier to talk through life challenges while playing a game like UNO. They also have the option of just using the time to talk through whatever they want to. From what I have found, teens are often seeking a space in counseling that is separate from their parents/guardians, so I attempt to provide that opportunity, while of course letting parents/guardians know if there are any concerns related to safety.

Currently accepting new clients for middle of the day appointments. All after school time slots are full.
